St. Francis Winery
Sonoma County Merlot

At the new Rumbleseat! Inky dark. Soft dryness up front with an initial taste of figs and dark fruit. A taste of the barrel on the back.

USA. Red. California.
Peppery and oaky. Too much smoky oak for my taste, could taste alcohol (14.8%) more than fruit. But, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. It’s a quality merlot, just not my thing. Pretty dark beet red color. I’ve learned I just prefer old world complexity, especially the dark, very fruit-forward red wines. Had with pizza, a good pairing.
