Spring Mountain Vineyard
Reserve Napa Valley Red Blend
Napa Valley, California, USA

It’s not going to get better than how it’s drinking now. ‘99 has acidity, structure,
Fruit intact but has aged flavors.

Rich, structured and with nice tertiary flavors as it sits nearly at its peak. There is a bit of off-putting capsicum both on the nose and the finish, however, but it continued lesson over time. Blackberries and currants, tobacco, green bell pepper, cedar and graphite. Medium length on the finish. Tannins not yet fully resolved so a decent amount of life left. A fun wine to find deep in the cellar, but will still never be my style.

Simply put, this is a great vintage. Even after 27 years, the wine continues to evolve in the glass with every sip. This Bordeaux blend was dark in color, with a fruity bouquet, high acid, and a long, dynamic finish. Lots of tertiary flavors; some hints of dark, black fruit and tobacco with earthy undertones. The mouthfeel was soft and smooth. This wine is at it’s peak. Paired with charred lamb skewers and mushroom risotto.

Just have a second to jot a note while Friendsgiving is going on. This is remarkable. So much balance with fruit and everything I drink in young wine balancing with the age and tertiary stuff. It’s awesome. Happy Friendsgiving to my Delectable friends. I hope you have a great holiday.
