Spinifex is a boutique producer based in the Barossa Valley and run by Peter Schell who is a New Zealander. This shows red and blue fruits with herbal notes. One of those wines I think is best drunk young when it is fresh and vital. This is very good but personally I prefer McLaren Vale, particularly Blewitt Springs for Grenache.

Previous bottle was only 10 days ago, fresh on delivery of a mixed dozen direct from Spinifex - and I gave it 92. This time giving it 94 - sour cherry more subdued and fleshy raspberry a bit more forward - much better balance and into delicious territory. What happened? Is it mood? Or was the previous bottle drunk too soon on delivery (is there such a thing as bottle shock on young wine?), or is it bottle variation? I think both were drunk with a similar amount of airtime. In any case, lovely Grenache.

In the meaty, earthy Grenache corner. More sour cherry than juby raspberry. Fine cloudy tannin.

Light and fruity. Sparkle on the tongue. Not quite as good as remembers from the tasting
