Bright rose gold (extended skin contact?). Abundant nose of dry yellow apple and straw. Stern acidity leads the complex medium palate of yellow apple, white flowers, honeyed straw, and white pepper. Lengthy red apple finish. Now this is a Steen for the masses! Bright and juicy enough for a supper, but with the complexity and structure to accompany finer dining. And it’s all South African without trying to imitate its French counterparts. Drink now but it’ll be fine if you hold it through 2025.

Star bright yellow gold. Inviting nose of yellow apples and hay. Dry honey added on the medium-full palate. Medium plus acidity. Long, sweet hay finish. A rustic yet polished white that’s a natural with foods of all types. More complex than Spier’s entry level Signature series, and a classic example of the SA style.

Tasted in wine class: reasonably dry, and a nice floral nose with honeysuckle. Tropical mango in there too. Fairly enjoyable.

Peach apricot and a lot of spices. Rich in the mouth with a persistent citric note.
