Texas Hill Country Tempranillo

This wine has a long way to go. I may be a little biased but once it opens up a little it's a fantastic young Tempranillo.

This wine is deep ruby in color with just a little light getting through the glass. The nose is pretty and flowery and fruity at first, but Mr. Savory sneaks in after it opens up a bit. Right at the top of the glass are smoky, leathery spices and earth. The palate is full of black and blue berries with a layer of minerals over them. The earthy component lasts well into the finish.

Still tasting great.

I love it because we made it. Cherry and cocoa powder dominate with some nice toasty oak in the finish! Drink now or hold for a few years.

Nice nose and solid body-finish

Pulled this beaut out to have with some chili on a cold night. Perfect pairing, still my favorite bottle of Texas Tempranillo.

Great little wine, very little if any tannins. Well balanced, no need for food. Dark cherry notes

This wine was the first time I recognized tannins and realized I could enjoy that flavor.

Don't let the Texas fool you. Ron Yates and the team at Spicewood nail it with this one. I'd throw it up against any Rioja, including Remelluri.
