Speratus
The Debate Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Cabernet Sauvignon
#AgedWineTuesday
Dark ruby, almost Inky in color, with a short reddish rim. Not showing age at all.
On the nose blackberries, cherry pie, figs, raisins, tobacco, cedar, vanilla, licorice, eucalyptus, spices, chocolates and coffee.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, cedar, tobacco, vanilla, raisins, dried fruits, chocolates, mocha, coke, earth, herbs and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This 12 year Napa Cabernet is delicious now. Showing good structure with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Fruit forward, rich and extracted. In your face kind of wine, which I liked. Peaking now.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show the tannins.
Robert Parker 90 points.
Thank you Scott for sharing this with me.
Good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with a big piece of steak.
14.6% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$180.

Out of the three, the most red fruited. Dusty, tannic, and tight. Layered and youthful with incredible stuffing. This wine won the "debate" amongst the trio.

Still good for $100.00
So much better than the 2012 Janzen Missouri Hopper that parker gave 99points.

Generous display of flavor dusted with the lightest of tannins and a most desirable long finish. Bravo!

Jul 9th, 2017Take some awesome pedigree fruit, over oak the crap out of it and then add some oak chips and shavings for good measure. Round vanilla, dark berry and you guessed it, wood grain. Disappointing for the price point, no debate here.
