Soline
Pays d'Oc Viognier
Languedoc Roussillon, France
Not so big and oily as the new world viogners can be and sans technical flaws. Aroma is spicy apples, namely nutmeg and clove but a slight under tone of celery. That spicy vegetable note that plays very nicely in the aroma. Flavor is still medium bodied but is so well balanced by tart apple acidity that is almost drinks cleaner and smoother than you think. Anyway played very nicely with German dinner. The acidity cut through buttery cheesy kase spatzel and it had enough body to stand against fried pork.

Sep 30th, 2025My palate is terribly out of shape, so I’m finding this a bit too minerally. Like manzanilla sherry , it tastes like a sea breeze with salt and minerals

Apr 9th, 2025In the glass: Gold with pale rose tint, soft legs for 13% ABV. On the nose: Vanilla, Green Apple, Celery, Sandy Dry Soil. On the palate: Citric, Green Apple, Bright Spice. Overall: Not a perfect Condrieu Viognier, of course, for which one pays $80 to $160 per bottle, but for a bottle under $20 I highly reccomend it. Would pair well with sole, black olives, tomato salad, and many lighter summer plates.
