Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2020 “Salero” is a delightful, old school blend of mostly Nebbiolo with a bit of Croatina and Vespolina for good measure. It pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of Morello cherry, cranberry, red flowers, licorice, alpine herbs and inorganic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with nice minerality. A very tasty example from Alto Piemonte. Drink now through 2040+.
