Burgundy with pizza night? Why not. This was expressive and forward if not terribly refined, plush and expansive on the palate with bright, tangy red berries and sour cherry, while showing some secondary notes of forest floor and leather. Firm tannic spine keeps the whole thing together. Couldn’t help but polish off the whole bottle to wash down the (perhaps one too many) slices.
