Landslide Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Had this in June 2021 and it was the showstopper. We did all the reserves, special lots, etc.. 2006 Landslide crushed them all. It has plenty of aging left to do, but don’t drink it too young. I see some other (older) reviews on here and I feel genuinely bad for those folk.
Incredible structure and power in the glass. A velvet hammer approach of cassis and blackberry, vanilla, with briar and chocolatey coating.
I even compared this next to a 2006 Alexander Valley Silver Oak and this won in a… wait for it… LANDSLIDE.

Damnit, this is good. I haven’t had Landslide in a long time but the 2016 is drinking well though I’d honestly give it 10 more years. Plenty of tannins to counter the plums and cherries that are popping. Great structure. This is going to develop well.

Jun 12th, 2021Pleasantly surprised by this restrained can from Alex Valley, Sonoma. Muted fruit is offset by a creamy texture, lively acid, and balance of new and old oak.

Dec 16th, 2017Oak is too dominant for an otherwise nice wine for the price.

Sep 3rd, 2017This beauty has held up well. Rich full tannins, earthy, lush. A great bottle of wine. Well done Nick Goldschmidt.

Medium nose of licorice, blackberry, black plum, black cherry, strawberry, raspberry, cedar, vanilla, clove and tobacco. Medium tart acid of medium body brings black fruits, bitter chocolate, earth and black pepper to the palate. Good structure but balance shifts toward medium edgy, slightly bitter tannins that lead to a long dry earth/oak finish. Decant 1 hour for rich dish/ red meat dishes. Good wine but somewhat dear for $32.99 USD for this quality.
