Nose of red licorice, violets, and a touch of bell pepper and spicy oak.
Palate is concentrated red fruit up front, cassis, with some underlying spice. Finish carries a bit of spicy sweet oak and violets with soft tannins. Noticable alcohol.
Good fruit concentration and hints of spice make this distinctly new world but with a touch of classic Cab Franc herbaceousness. Alcohol heat is a bit bothersome. I really enjoy the Bordeaux and Rhone varietal expressions from Southern Oregon.
