What a treat! This 1964 Rioja has so much going on. Deep garnet in color, with very little browning, considering the age of this wine. The nose is flinty and waxy, yielding to dried cherries, rose petals, five spice, amontillado, and more. Well-balanced (it had better be, in order to last so well all these years), the acidity is mouthwatering without any tartness. Light in body, with gentle tannins, and an uberlong finish. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to drink every last drop.
