2007 Shinn Vin. "Wild Boar Doe" nose very reminiscent of Bordeaux or some very old California Merlot. Leathery, tar and cherry aroma. Very dry and light on the palate. It's a bit too cold now and will be interesting to see how it opens up. Less fruit and more earth on the palate.

This is Shinn Estate's 2010 Wild Boar Doe. A well made wine that served to remind us that NY and CA wines stand alone; they are different animals. This is terroir. This wine speaks to the cool and often damp climate in the North Fork. Balanced and complex, it has a much more European profile than anything you'll find out west. I'd love to know the blend, which is the only important info missing from the labels. 14.1%

High toned red fruit near acetone level w ripe peppers coming in as it opens, graphite, cloves rounds out the finish. Fairly concentrated, good value if you like Bordeaux on the fruitier side

My favorite Long Island producer. Definitely has the characteristics I associate with LI wines but this is really well made and developed in decanter and glass over several hours.
