Sticking with Shibumi Knoll tonight and moving to their Cab. To me, this is classic TRB-style Cabernet at a fraction of what some of his other cabs cost. The nose is a touch earthy, hints of tobacco, vanilla, and leather. The palate is explosive with black bramble fruits with a silky, long finish. Incredible balance and integration. Even better, this was pop and poured.

Sep 4th, 2018If you haven’t gathered from my posts, I’m mildly obsessed with Shibumi Knoll Chardonnay. Their ‘14 Cabernet, also made by TRB, is simply out of this world. Wait, no, it sucks. Do not seek this out. There are no silky smooth tannins. The nose doesn’t surprise you with earthy, savory notes only to have the palate contradict it with lush fruit. There are no flavors of cassis, or black fruits. The mouthfeel isn’t luxurious or coating. The balance...wait, what balance...Nothing to see, smell, or taste here. Kindly move along.
