When you come across an insanely good food match - the memory sticks with you! This #thetcwineclub Touriga Nacional dominant red blend from Dão in Portugal was enhanced even further by @thewinegallery’s recommended Turkish Aubergines with Walnut Sauce.

You may not have heard of Touriga Nacional however if you’re a Port lover then you’ve probably consumed it as it’s one of the main grapes used. Technically the ‘port’ you get here in Aussie should be labelled fortified wine. As like champagne, Port should only come from Portugal.

On a side note, Olive Farm Wines in Perth’s Swan Valley have just started producing Touriga, you can find my notes a few posts back - delicious and definitely worth trying!

However this Casa da Passarella ‘Somontes’ is a purple red colour on the eye. I loved its highly aromatic nature with meaty and earthy notes yet plentiful sweet red cherries, vanilla and a hint of florals come through. In the mouth it has lovely delicate tannins, juicy spiced plums and elegant acidity. Delicious and super food friendly.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #sample #tcweekdaywine
