Opened a couple hours prior to service and enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 1994 “Estate Reserve” pours a slightly hazy garnet color with a near opaque core and some rim variation; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated dark fruits: cassis, black cherry, green bell pepper, tobacco, potpourri, old leather bound books, beef broth, and organic dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium (integrated) tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose with the addition of pomegranates. The finish is long. ABV is 12.5%!! This is about as old school as it gets and I’d be tempted to call this Left Bank Bordeaux if I was blinded. Wow. Drink now…but will probably live for another 10+ years if stored as well as this bottle (perfect).

1hr+ decant. Lovely nose of cedar, cherries, and licorice. Somewhat astringent on the palate, but nice. Medium depth and finish. Paired well with Turkey!

This was great! 1hr+ decant. Dark red color. Dark fruit and rustic elements on the nose. Palate reminded me of all those great Bordeaux’s we had with dinners in London! Medium plus depth and medium finish, that had a high quality taste to it. Awesome!

Similar to my 7/3/22 note.

Love love love. Went great with some elk backstrap. Red fruit, blue fruit, raspberry, hints of vanilla. Drinking well with smooth tannins

Deep, dark purple color. Tobacco, eucalyptus, and modest oak on the nose. Wine has a ton of power upfront but relaxes quickly, with massive dark cherry flavors. Still has many years ahead of it and definitely would have benefited from a 1-2 hour decant. This is the wine that turned us on to Sequoia Grove!! An oldie but a goodie!
