2011 vintage. Selendi Sarnic. From Jay. 100% Merlot from Izmir. This wine is produced by the former CEO of Garanti Bank in Turkey (one of the biggest banks). Lovely energetic dark ruby colour. If it was served blind, I would have thought it was a barrel sample based on colour alone. Lovely notes of red cherries and cassis on the nose with Xmas spices and a touch of menthol. Velvety on the palate. Silky, soft fruit forward wine. Alcohol level makes the wine a little hot and the acidity is somewhat overwhelmed by the fruit.
