Sean Thackrey "Pleiades XXIII" Old Vine Red Blend. Sonoma County. Sebastopol, California.
A truly mysterious wine. That's not a tasting note. I mean it's a truly mysterious wine because nobody knows what's in it. It's purple with medium intensity. Both tart and sweet cherries on the nose. On the palate, more of the same with medium acidity and low tannin. Some smooth baking spices and and a big cherry cola, earthy Pinot Noir finish. So there's definitely Pnot Noir in there. Aside from that I dunno, Zinfandel? Sangiovese? Barbera? Tempranillo. Petite Sirah? These are semi-educated guesses. Anyway, paired with the pastrami cured beets(!!!!) and legendary meatloaf @blueplatesf and it worked great. Want to try a true weirdo California cult wine for a reasonable price? Go for this one. I think it retails for under $25/bottle. Balanced and fun to drink. Would absolutely do this again If I can find it.

Love having this true gentleman on our list at Saxon. A beautiful, wild, and rich red for a truly wild, but still beautiful holiday in NYC

A wise friend said this was a "chick wine"... he was correct. Slight funk on the nose, bright red fruit. A light red. Drinkin' this all day... if I was a "chick"
