Scherrer Winery
Scherrer Vineyard Old and Mature Vines Zinfandel

Not many Zins improve with age, at least not this much bottle age. Scherrer’s are an exception, and exceptional.

Definitely old and mature, dark raisiny fruit and acid still kicking.

Enjoyed revisiting this opulently jammy and robust Zin on its own. Ripe cherry, juicy plum, as well as prominent but seamlessly integrated spices thanks to some responsible use of new French oak.

Either I'm in a good Zin place or I have just been opening the right bottles lately.

May 5th, 2014Dark cherry, plum, smoke, graphite, mint and a touch of cedary spice. Silky tannins and balanced acid. Looong mineral finish. This bottle has aged beautifully.
