Monsieur Ètain Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Best 17 I’ve had (or so my somewhat sloshed memory thinks).

Just landed on my porch and figured I had to test. Not sure what to expect from 2017 Napa but this was above my expectations.

4 hour decant. Dark ruby. Big powerful wine. Black fruit, oak, sage, tobacco. Silky yet dense mouthfeel. Drinking very smooth, yet very strong. Lovely.

The reviews I have read to date under rate this wine. I am having a hard time keeping my hands off so that it can age!

Surprisingly a PnP’er for such a young wine. This wine is way underrated by WA. Hitting all the right notes regarding depth, balance, acid, fruit and nuance! Excited to see how it evolves over the next 8-10 years!

This is a very, very, very young wine. Decanted for 5 hours. Big juicy wine. Could use a little more acid. This rating reflects this wine today in it’s immature state. It will drink and score much higher in 5 years.

Lovely wine. Wonderful evening with friends. Drinking really nice now, but in a few years will be amazing.
