A relatively early incarnation of one of Justin Smith's wines, the 2005 Broken Stones is, in my view, a window into the great wines he's been making since he hit his stride starting with the 2006 vintage. Amazing nose of iodine, blackberry, and dark fruit notes combined with a subtle undercurrent of earth, this is a totally underrated wine that is ageing beautifully. In my view this wine is peaking, so if you have this you should drink it up. Terrific!
