Santo Tomás
Duetto Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon
Opened this up on our last night at Riviera Maya. I thoroughly enjoy drinking wines from the nation or state we travel in. This happens to also be one of my new favorites. Earth tones, tobacco, leather, blackberry and more on the nose. Multiple layers and yet this has a relative softness on the finish that speaks to the age and blend. Highly recommend and as a side note - worth visiting the winery in Ensenada for the full experience.

Dec 29th, 2022Brought this bottle to dinner because it is STILL one of my favorite bottles. Can’t get this in US so have to bring back from my MX trips. If you haven’t tried it, go get it!!

Dec 31st, 2021Baja Tempranillo Cab blend... Vibrant medium ruby color. Clean leather, plum and French Vanilla on the nose. On the pallet it is immediately velvety with notes of dark fruit, cassis, vanilla and hints of smoke and chocolate. Elegant, with strong tannings and a long enticing finish. Most impressed. Paired with rosemary chicken; flavors worked extremely well.

Oct 5th, 2020A very early Fathers Day celebration brought out this bottle. In our area this is not an easy wine to get and so I try to limit for special occasions. I’ve had multiple vintages and while the 2013 is good, it might actually be at its peak compared to earlier years. Very balanced tannins, hints of leather, tobacco, dark but muted berries and a medium finish. This drank very smoothly and that might be due to the 45 minutes to hour decanting that opened it up. Like supporting MX wine and this is a good one to try.
