Santa Cristina (Marchesi Antinori)
Toscana Sangiovese Cabernet
Interesting nose, but somehow the taste isn't following. Really fruity, a bit unbalanced. Still good to pair with food.

1 person found it helpfulOct 26th, 2017Okay this is a weird one. Lovely flavor! Full of fruit, full bodied, delicious on the tongue but the smell just does not match the taste. Overall it's very good and I would definitely buy it again. Would go great with red meat or a pasta dish. Happy Friday!

Feb 4th, 2017Really interesting notes that seemed to be quite volatile and constantly changing (not in a complex way). Lots of gamey and mineral notes with a dryness. #quaffable is not the right adjective because food is needed to enjoy this simple and bizarre wine. #santacristina #toscana #sangiovese #ctbucklinwine

Aug 11th, 2016An easy and well balance wine with notes of flowers in the nose together with beautiful wood. It is not aggressive, smooth in the paladar without butter tonnes....light, many flowers and a touch of mint and freshness. Short but refreshing. Definitely nice to drink. I could get drunk with this wine.

Nov 10th, 2020Ruby coloration. Can see through the rim of the wine. On the nose is sulfur and hard boiled egg. On the palate is currant, cherry and strawberry and shorter finish of same notes . Medium body and lighter- medium tannins. Surprising considering the nose. Drinks bigger than its $9.99 price tag. Should be good with food. Given its price point it’s a good value wine.

Mar 8th, 2019This wine definitely pairs better with food. A good table wine. Not my favorite, but I would buy again.

Jan 11th, 2019Currently traveling in a teeny tiny town, eating at a teeny tiny pizzeria. This is one of the only wines on their list. Very light- smooth yet almost vaporous. No lingering flavor to enjoy.

Apr 27th, 2018Nose of underbrush (sulfur?), strong notes of dark fruits. Thick and heavy mouth, a little stick. Full-bodied with softened tannins, nice acidity. Overall balanced and pleasant.
