The 2013 vintage of reserve MaipoValley Carmenere lists at 13.5% alcohol and shows as a ruby red with a youthful deep coloured violet hue. This varietal typically ripens later then it's relative Cabernet Sauvignon. on the nose it shows a predominance of American oak, cool climate Andean herbaceousness, vine-ripened tomato and delicate plum tones and sour cherry on the palate as well. With medium tannins, medium bodied, medium acidity, the fruit is well supported in a wine structured for enjoying with or without food. This wine has a mouthfeel which is chewy, and tart. This wine finishes long with a persistence of sour cherry and bitter chocolate and underbrush. Recommend pairing with game, tomato-based stew or cassoulet.
