Let it open up a bit. Not too bad at all.

Notes of leather, black pepper and green pepper that are baffled out on the palate with some dark fruit. Solid wine.

Promotion - it came with the room...OK for the price. Think I might enjoy the Ithaca IPA more....

Let sit for a few minutes and the tannins were still a bit overwhelming. Allowed it to really open up for another 30 or so and it smelled and tasted like a completely different wine. Pleasant wine.

The 2013 vintage of reserve MaipoValley Carmenere lists at 13.5% alcohol and shows as a ruby red with a youthful deep coloured violet hue. This varietal typically ripens later then it's relative Cabernet Sauvignon. on the nose it shows a predominance of American oak, cool climate Andean herbaceousness, vine-ripened tomato and delicate plum tones and sour cherry on the palate as well. With medium tannins, medium bodied, medium acidity, the fruit is well supported in a wine structured for enjoying with or without food. This wine has a mouthfeel which is chewy, and tart. This wine finishes long with a persistence of sour cherry and bitter chocolate and underbrush. Recommend pairing with game, tomato-based stew or cassoulet.

Bright ruby red in color.
Beautiful, fruity nose with cherries, cranberries, blackberries and peppercorn.

Medium to full bodied, with a nice mouth feel. Peppery on the palate with dark berries and black peppercorn.

Nice clean finish. Not too complex yet good. I really enjoyed it.
It's 14% alcohol by volume.
