Last of 5 wines tasted at the Salcheto winery. Current release (after 2 years in barrel and 4 in bottle). Salco is Italian for willow tree and the name of their prized estate vineyard. This is of course their flagship. 100% Sangiovese/Prugnolo Gentile, but it drinks more like a Super-Tuscan than VNdM (as it is designated). Dark and vibrant, it oozes with aromatics. The cherry and blueberry flavors multiply with time on the tongue as the finish goes on and on. Bringing a bottle home in case I can't find an importer.
