The first red from Arizona I’ve actually enjoyed (granted, I’ve only had about a half dozen). A little lighter in color than you’d expect for a Tempranillo, almost like a heavy Pinot. The nose is full of red and blue fruit, tobacco and dried sage (and a bit of delicious VA). The palette shows the same bright red and blue fruit, driven by some nice acidity. The body is light, maybe med-, with tannins on par with a medium body Pinot. A lot of surprises here, but most importantly you’ve got a solid offering from the AZ.
