The 2019 Treinspoor, 80% whole-cluster Tinta Barocca matured in old foudre, presents a crisp, well-defined bouquet of blackberry, briar and wild fennel scents, gaining intensity all the time in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Taut and crisp, almost pixelated in style, leading to a sensual, mulberry-tinged finish. Very elegant and refined. (Neal Martin, Vinous, April 2021)

Different than most SA wines I’ve had. Range of berries — red blue and black — and nice earthiness.

Nice wine, with smooth velvety start and pepper finish. But at $60, this Wine is not worth the price, which is why I am rating lower.

Seriously cool stuff here. South African old vine tinta barroca! Dense and plummy but with animal bacon fat quality to it. A tad pricy, but worth it just to see what it's all about.

Wonderful wine. Restrained in a good way - relies on aromatics rather than weight. Just enough acidity for balance but leaves a suave and pleasantly smooth (not the best term but it was the bedt I could think of) feeling. Good stuff.

Treinspoor is pure Tinta Barocca from a parcel to the west of Malmesbury that was planted in 1974. Delicious.
