Sabelli-Frisch
La Malinche Mokelumne River Mission
Last bottle of vintage. Excellent clarity but only light to moderate pigment extraction, consistent with the varietal. Cherry and grape candy flavors, aroma of phenol and a finish of barrel smoke. Slightly rough skin tannins on initial pour, but not too intense. Seedy bitter finish after ten minutes but should resolve later. After an hour, blueberry and blackberry flavors emerge with a cocoa-like texture on the finish. An expressive version of this varietal.

Oct 17th, 2022Garnet red, very good clarity, lightly extracted pigment. Floral, cherry candy notes in nose. Cherry candy flavors with some grip and bitterness in finish on initial pour. Nice length of fruit in mouth, even from first pour. Some eucalyptus, phenol and barrel smoke emerge after 20 minutes. Bright, slightly tart.

Feb 26th, 2021The Mission grape was brought to the New World by the conquistadors and is the oldest grape in California. Adam Sabelli– Frisch says he is obsessed with this varietal and I can see why. Light in color and body, but remarkable texture. I’m a believer.
