Saarloos & Sons
Fatman Estate Ballard Canyon Syrah
Tasted several of the Saarloos tonight-thanks @Paul Treadway Huntington Beacher going to Silver Lake Wine's tastings may be a habit that sticks...but because Silver Lake Wine is interesting, the wines also interesting and the company...also dang interesting this habit may stick. Saarloos marches to the beat of their own drummer. At least on the label. On the tongue, they are recognizably Californian indy wines and that is NOT a bad thing. As for the Syrah wines, I found them to be Rhone rangers plus Cali cool. A good balance of the funk plus the ripe all together. Done. I'll take more but also want to think about them a touch longer than average. The I-wanna-think factor is important to a nerd like me. Why did I not snag another bottle of this at the tasting? *kicks self, doesn't even enjoy the pain*
