Route 29 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Lighter body cab, easy drinker. More versatile than some cabs, maybe go well with swordfish, trying Hawaiian Opah with it tonight.

May 30th, 2017Here is my Friday's Cabernet fix. This week it's a Napa Cabernet.
Dark purple in color with a purple rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, black currants, plums, alcohol, vanilla, coke, peppercorn, leather, smoke, chocolates, mocha, earth, wood, licorice, cloves, herbs and spices.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, earth, leather, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with medium tannins and tart cherries.
This is a good Napa Cabernet. Well balanced with an enjoyable mouthfeel and nice complexity. However, it is a little lighter than I expected.
Needs 2 hours to open up properly, and will be better in 3 to 5 years. Already enjoyable by itself or with food. I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.
This 2014 vintage is made with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Aged for 21 months in 91% French oak barrels.
14% alcohol by volume.
