Round Pond Estate
Kith & Kin Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This time it's a Napa Cabernet.
Deep ruby in color with a short purple rim.
Soft nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, metals, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, smoke, vegetables, earth and black pepper.
Full bodied, but not bold, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cherries, wood, spices, vanilla, light vegetables, coffee, chocolates, tobacco, spices, mocha, peppercorn, earth and licorice.
Nice length on the finish with round tannins and spices.
This is a great Cabernet. Not a typical Napa Cabernet, though. Showing nice complexity and balance, with some earthy notes and lots of black fruits. A great smooth mouthfeel.
Still young but already enjoyable even by itself. Will mature nicely in the next few years.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle.
Yummy with a teeth staining color.
I paired it with beef sliders and great company.
14.9% alcohol by volume.
$30.

Great QPR! It is a little jammy rich, but it is perfect for a burger kinda night. Baked blackberry cobbler and milk chocolate nuance on the nose and a slightly jammy pallet of casis, mocha, bell pepper, and leather.

Probably should have started with this - but it was an easy drinking, crowd pleaser for sure and cannot beat the price. Great safety wine when you want to serve something good for a crowd.

Jun 18th, 2017Big bold Cabernet. Dark inky color. BlackBerry, tobacco and cassis on the palate. Nice mouth feel.

Mar 6th, 2019Deep, dark ruby with an almost translucent purple rim. Nice nose with the fruit at the front. Tart cherries and blackberry jam start it off then you get some white pepper, menthol smoke, and dry grass. I expected a big bruiser from this bottle, a pretty standard Napa Cab but got something a little softer and more nuanced than that. While full bodied, the palate is smooth and strives for finesse. Vanilla, burnt tobacco, woodland berries, and licorice going on here. Low acidity and not burdened by being over oaked, this is a really nice easy drinker. Their second wine, this isn’t overly complex but is very enjoyable. For the price, it can’t be beat.

Mar 9th, 2018Recommended to me by our waiter at The Palm Restaurant. Beautiful, aromatic, balanced. Lots of fruit (dark berries) on the nose. Supple on the front of the palate but opens up nicely with intense flavors of blackberry, black cherry and licorice. Finishing with nice tobacco and espresso notes, and smooth tannins.
