Rota
Villa Castellazzo 27 Via Romani Brut Lambrusco
2014 vintage. One of the most "local" Lambruscos one will find on the market. Always a delightful balance of fruit and earth, firm tannins but not overly determined, and super crisp. Quality bubbles. Hits all the benchmarks consumers love: freshness, low-alcohol, and simplicity. A lovely union of tannin and fizz.

Mar 4th, 2015This is my cat in his teepee ⛺️ with a bottle of sparkling red wine 😹

I picked this Sparkling Red for this months #thetcwineclub box because I’m becoming a bit of a bubbly red fiend. Have any of the club members cracked into this one yet?!
Made in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, this Dario Rota 27 Lambrusco 2017 went down a treat. In Italy 🇮🇹 you’ll find Lambrusco typically teamed with charcuterie & cured meats. Like Riesling, a lot of people think that Lambrusco’s are all sweet, but they’re not. This is a dry, rather savoury Lambrusco.
We actually teamed it up with some Soleo Cuvée Chocolate which went down a treat 👌
It’s a ruby red colour in the glass with a lovely delicate red mousse on top. The nose makes me think of red and black berries, spice, blue cheese, melon wrapped in prosciutto and leather. It’s jam packed with vibrancy and deliciousness. In the mouth it’s super smooth and approachable. Mr Spittoon said it reminded him of those old fashioned smokers lollies whilst I really enjoyed the refreshing cranberry infused acidity. I’ll drink this one again for sure 🍷
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
