New world modern style baby Amarone. Quite oaky but I really loved it. Beautiful dried black cherry, dried black plum, mocha coffee, black chocolate, tobacco leaves, raisins and graphite on the nose. The high acidity is the key factor holding this wine. Dusty tannin and ultra long finish. Pure joy. 14% abv. Warning: Burgundy lovers, you need to leave right now 😆

Valpolicella, but more elegant than any Valpolicella I have had. Likely because it really is an Amarone in disguise. The grapes are dried only 6 weeks instead of 3 months. As is typical for Valpolicella, the wine starts out sweet, but not too sweet. It then ends in a peppery finish. The nose is pepper dominated. Unlike Valpolicella, there are no harsh edges or rustic fruitiness. While a great wine, the $100 price tag is not justified. I feel there are Amarones that are better at this price.
