This is a big disappointment from Rogue, it is not at all what the name says, it is not "Brutal" it is tame and maybe lame, I would like to rate this lower because of being deceived, but it is a good IPA, I would not call it a typical West Coast IPA, it does have nice hops and citrus notes, but it is more malt than hops, more like a East Coast IPA, almost on the same level as "Dogfish Head" 60 minute IPA

Jun 29th, 2017I'm struggling to understand why they call it BRUTAL, but don't let that stop you. This was a pleasant surprise. While the label doesn't mention it, this appears to be bottle conditioned! Why the exclamation you ask? Well, bottle conditioned ales tend to have a softer mouth feel than other ales. They are the opposite of garbage American mega brews like Budweiser which should only be used for cleaning paint brushes and water boarding. NOTE: bottle conditioning means there is a fair amount of sediment in the bottle. Pour slowly and leave a little bit in the bottle.
