Back to the future with this old style shiraz/cabernet blend that was so popular in the 1960s and 1970s before the barossa really took off. This won't dissappoint - delicious blend of dark fruit and leather flavours. You wouldn't know it was 14.4%. Not cheap but great value wine.

Nose of peppery fruits; blackberries, blueberries, dark cherries, touch of bandaid, cooked green peppers and dark florals. On the palate, blackberries, blueberries, black plum, sour dark cherries, uncooked rhubarb, salty caramel, black cherry cola, light minerals, dark earth with crushed rocks, powdery dry tannins and dripping acidity. The name of the wine is an acknowledgment to growers.

As always, a gorgeous wine from a premium maker and district - lacks the weight of the straight Basket Press shiraz, but a great wine at a good price.

The pedigree will always come through. Big and full ripe Shiraz matched with tight Cabernet character. Lovely wine.

Cracking good stuff. Holding up really well, with tertiaries starting to emerge while there's still good fruit. Great colour. Intensity and balance. Lingers, and then demands another sip. Seems a lot better than more recent offerings.

Used to love this stuff; long time between drinks. The cabernet seems to dominate this one, with the shiraz smoothing things out. Getting better in the glass after being open a few hours. Perhaps not my favourite style now, but it's a nice enough drink on a winter's night.

A good wash of bright, bold, peppery fruit. Enough guts and chewiness to go with a good Aussie barbecue. It's all fruit forward at this age; perhaps some development will come with time.
