Great Fall/Winter wine, dark brooding, ripe cherry, earthy, spicy, floral. Nice tannins, good acidity, full bodied. Drink it with strong cheese, wild game, Braised shank or on its own at the end of the day.

2010 was a difficult vintage, this is a Valpolicella blend without Molinara but with some Croatina. Grapes come from volcanic soils of San Briccio Cru, near Mezzane. Very young at this stage, oak is evident, but structure, tannins and red fruits are definitely aimed to elegance.

Roccolo Grassi is perhaps less well known than the famous Amarone producers from Valpolicella, Veneto. The winery has been active since 1996, and produces impressive wines, Soave, Valpolicella, Amarone and Recioto. This 2010 Valpolicella in majority consists of Corvina and Rondinella and truly is a baby Amarone. Pitch dark, black cherries, licorice, but also freshness and soft tannines. Beautiful wine!

This wine...never doubt an Italian wine in Positano.

Floral aroma. Basic minerality. Slight grip from tannins. High alcohol content goes unnoticed. Went well with steak and gnocchi but now I am just bragging.
