Enormous, over-the-top Howell Mountain Cab. P&P and immediately poured into a decanter given how tightly wound it was. Nose was surprisingly muted in terms of fruit and heavy on wet slate, fresh concrete notes. Mouth is full of berries, black currant, tar and peppercorn. Syrah like? Oh and gritty, sandpaper-like tannins. Agree with others who have commented it needs (lot) more time. Or, more critically, an example of how you can have too much of a good thing.
