Robert Young Estate Winery
Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Big and bold. Needed to open up a lot. Black currant and oak taste. Initial fruity taste then rich tannins

Nov 27th, 2020Bought this when I visited a couple months ago. Family owned winery that is gorgeous, people were friendly. For $50 this is really good - needs time to open up but once it does you get dark fruit, big tannins, pencil shavings and a clean finish.

Apr 26th, 2020For an entry level RYEW cab, this one really is drinking very well. First time purchasing the "non-Rock Block" cab, this one shows a lot of potential. The nose is more of a sweeter black fruit vs the Spoto, almost with a blue fruit character. Youthful. Middle has a baking spixe character. Finishes with tough oak and peppery characteristics. These wines are always locked up historically. Although I think this one started out with more fruit aromatics than the Rock Block, I still think it needs a couple of years, but don't see it lasting more than 10.

Aug 14th, 20172003 vintage. I'm impressed with the role that the oak is playing here... a useful spice addition to the soft grip of a leather glove marinated in dark cherry and plum. IMO it's drinking well right now.
