Drinking really well! Surprised me at how dense it was. Cassis, tobacco, licorice on the nose and good weight on the palate...some Andes mint/dark chocolate notes and blackberry. Acidity and tannins are still strong. No hurry here.

A true stunner at now twenty years of age, the 1999 ‘Reserve’ Cabernet Sauvignon (WWB, 95) features fruit from the storied To-Kalon Vineyard which lies right behind the Mondavi winery. On the nose this shows wonderful floral tones with red rose petals masquerading with dark kirsch, sagebrush, and wild mushroom aromatics that all meld in the glass. The palate is viscous and silky smooth upon the attack with intense wild blackberry purée, Umami, white truffle shavings, and a beam of salinity alongside the dusty terroir. Overall, this complex and beautifully balanced Napa Cabernet is magical now and will continue to develop well for the next ten to fifteen years

Juicy and earthy with a long finish. Lots of dark fruit and still some tannins left. Definitely showing good age though.

But this bottle has aged very well. At 20 years old, this wine curveball of the night pulled by Jason! One of my favorites of the night. The entry of this wine definitely shows a hint of age, but only a hint. Lots of blackberry, hint of blueberry, cassis, dark baking chocolate. Little bit of graphite, still with nice tannin on the finish which has started to soften and integrate. A lovely wine.
