It’s #MerlotThursday!
Here is a simple Merlot from California.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose with blueberries, cherries, strawberries, light oak, vanilla, licorice, light chocolates, pencil lead and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with high acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with cherries, strawberries, cranberries, wood, spices, peppercorn, green herbs and tobacco.

Tart on the finish with no tannins and tart cranberries.

This is a drinkable Merlot from California. Tart and unbalanced and not for me. Others liked it though.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

78 points.

$10.

One of the better reds in my quiver. I drank this while playing Rocket League with a friend. Unlike this red, he couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat. Would drink again.

A super delightful and affordable Merlot. Like this is the perfect, the Emmy’s are on and you’re by yourself in your comfy pants.

Pleasantly surprised - not too bratty. Nice fruit bomb for this jam lover. Tannins and balanced. Only one I returned to for seconds.

Surprisingly decent for an under ten dollar Merlot. Not overly green or harsh. Probably cut with other grapes to mellow it. It’s prob about as good as you can find in a limited supermarket wine section. Far far better than Yellow Tail for about the same price.

Little flavor, short finish. Not offensive but not good. Drank when feeling a little sad and binging queer eye.
