Robert Moncuit
Claude Alexander Grand Cru Brut Champagne Chardonnay
It was Weston’s hosting today for the Wednesday Wine Committee and probably the most informative lunch to date. Though everything was tasted “blind” as usual, we were all given a list of grapes to choose from for the whites and the reds, since they were all meant to be very similar.
For me, this screamed French NV. Alexander Vineyards is unique in that their tasting room is in Fredericksburg, but all their wines are sourced and made abroad. Lots of green apple. Little yeast or chalk. Bubbles throughout. Sweet up front. I guessed correctly. ✔️

A delightful selection 👌🏻 Sad it’s my last bottle but thankful it can easily (and enjoyably) be acquired by taking a stroll out to the TX Hill Country to visit Alexander Vineyards’ tasting room. Chalky, Granny Smith apples, nice tartness, good body.

Feb 23rd, 2020What a great surprise it was to finally meet @Shay A and his family in-person, and at Classic no less! Both he and my wife coordinated a surprise tasting to help ring in my 30th birthday and it was on-point 👌🏻 15 wines, all Alexander Vineyards’ private labels or selections from other producers in their portfolio. All really fun to taste and talk about.
As for this champagne, arguably my WOTN 🥂

Bought this in Texas. Wonderful Blanc de Blanc bubbly. We poured it in regular Schott Zwiesel wine glasses and it really enhanced the nose. Highly recommended.
