It's time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This week it's a nice one from Paso Robles.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Nice fruity nose with black currants, blackberries, cherries, vanilla, cedar, leather, licorice, earth and black pepper.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, sweet cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, chocolates, tobacco, beef jerky, spices, coffee, herbs and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.

This Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking very nicely now. Well balanced and enjoyable by itself or with foods like BBQ Meats. Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly, and then it's just delicious.

Grapes are hand picked and aged for 18 months in oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Warm blackberry pie, black currant, chocolate, black pepper, and lots of spice. Soft tannins from the wine itself but quite a bit of barrel tannin on the finish. Overall well developed and doesn't feel too rushed or astringent at just 3 years old.

Not for me, bold with lasting tannins at the end, wouldn't purchase for myself but if it was brought over by a friend again i could drink a glass.

Was on sale and now I'm hooked. Don't know what I'm talking about but tastes like cedar wood smells. This wine makes me want to drink two bottles of the stuff and text all my ex's.

Ripe, jammy, black fruit, and a little earth to balance things out. Slightly dusty but pleasant tannins. Awesome, if straightforward, cab. Great value at sub $20.

Don't know where this came from, just found it in the daily wine fridge. Was in the mood for a light Cabernet, and this one does the trick. Not complicated. It does show that Paso Robles has a lot more to offer than the Zinfandels and Rhône style wines. Plum and cherry notes, decent balance and short finish. Just what I needed for the salumi plate.
