River Road Vineyards
Double Oaked Chardonnay
Had some higher expectations for this, and while double Oakes sounded good, in practice it’s not ready for game day. It’s drinkable - but in the continuum of chards this is left wanting. Something with the abrupt turn at the end of the glass makes this score lower. All the usual chard ingredients are present (oak, citrus and creaminess), but something in the way (to borrow that from Nirvana) makes this more of Kirt’s “underneath the bridge” variety. Wanted this to be more...but alas, It settles below where I had hoped.
