Smoke, licorice, dark fruit, black pepper, rubber, medium-full bodied. Very warming - would love to drink around a campfire. We drank with charcoal-grilled steaks.

Such a surprise! Juicy red fruit with nice acid to balance the tannins and body. Soft, long finish.

I served this with a New York strip steak. It was a bit of a wild card (I've never served a nero d'Avola with steak.) We were delighted. Earth and smoke/grilled meat on the nose. Once it opened, vivid red fruit (tart cherry). The tannins intensified the flavor of the food nicely, and the acid let the fruit shine through. Really fun. It surprised and delighted everyone.
