Last bottle after a deeper purchase a few years ago. For me a talented winemaker who seems to bring a Burgundian precision & elegance to his projects. That said, this ( & previous bottles) really benefit from age & decanting. Much quiet power in a light medium package; lovely copper red / rhubarb color- makes me wonder whether this really should be a five to seven year bottle for storage; refined cherry life savers, wild strawberries on palate, medium plus acidity. I suspect still a case of infanticide. For a shade over 20$ any of Rickjaerts bottles are Worth seeking out.

Pretty silky smooth and not at all citrus sulphur awkward.

Now we’re talkin— must have had at least 3 or 4 bottles prior to this, & they were all mute. Completely expressive now. Light sunshine vermillion color in glass. Wild red raspberries, fine tannins, medium, soft acidity. Floral & those fruits on nose. From a producer I hold complete faith in, happy the reward came ( his Chardonnay is my catnip). I did not decant. The question remains: were they bad bottles or just in a ‘dumb’ phase?

If there’s any producer that I almost worship, it’s this one. So perhaps it was not a surprise that my tasting for the first time of his Arbois red was a bit underwhelming.. I will say I did not decant, was a Pop and pour. His wines are so subtle and so well constructed. I have half a case to go so I’ll take my time. That said, these are always very interesting wines and worth anyone’s time..

Light in color and body with notes of overripe red cherry, dark fruit, herbs, and dead leaves. Mellow tannins and M/M- acidity. A versatile wine for pairing with food or drinking on its own. Served with a slight chill. Purchased at Suburban Wines in Yorktown Heights, NY.

Pale ruby with a tinge of orange in the glass, reminds of an end of fall red. Dead leaves, red cherry and dried herbs on the nose. The overripe red cherry comes through on the palate, as well as ripe cantaloupe, and a herbal tanginess that reminds me of amaro. Light tannins, a bit of tongue tickling spiciness that has a good amount of salinity to it, that carries through to it's medium length finish. As it opens up more the herbal notes become more apparent.
