York Creek California Zinfandel Petite Sirah

I bought a few of the 2007 Ridge York Creek Zin-blends some time ago. A night at the apartment with two wonderful friends made for the perfect occasion to bring a bottle - a nod to anecdotes that they had previously shared about hanging out with Paul Draper in the 1970s. Berries and cherries, floral and spicey, this wine lasts forever on the palate. Really amazed as to how well it has aged.

Supple, elegant, textured, lingering. It was fun to share with friends a Zin than was nuanced, not bombastic and slightly aged, not fresh-from-the-barrel-tannic.

Amazing fruit still there. Think chocolate covered cherries.

Pretty ready now. Another Ridge winner.

Holding up beautifully. Tobacco and black cherry. Alive, elegant.

2007 Vintage. Took some time opening up but worth the wait.

2007 vintage - tons of Unami with notes of dark cherries, chocolate, blueberries, game meats, and some spice. All nicely integrated now.

Rich mouthful of berries. Smooth and perfect with NY Strip on Sunday night
