Amazingly dark in color, little browning, plump and spicy, like booze saturated black cherries, a little loose on the tail with some taffeta textured tannins, but a solid 35 yr old!
Amazingly dark in color, little browning, plump and spicy, like booze saturated black cherries, a little loose on the tail with some taffeta textured tannins, but a solid 35 yr old!
1983 decanted for 6+ hours. During decant nose progressed from musty/earthy to a lively leather, bark, and earth. Color was a fantastic deep garnet showing age around the edges as it faded into an amber. Surprisingly light mouthfeel for a Cabernet but smooth, with red and black fruit and graphite. Tannins are nicely developed and integrated well over time. A bit of acidity towards the end hinting towards a decline. Finish was short and uneventful.
