Ridge Vineyards
Monte Bello Chardonnay
Hmm. Lots of oak, buttery, lots of vanilla, moderate volume and a sweetness on the finish. Sub acid.
Starting to get going a week in… definitely gaining volume and complexity.

Adding chill now, notes forthcoming...
I'm not a CA Chardonnay guy, but this one has been very Burgundian in style previously.
Nose you had me at flinty mineral and grape seed.
Palate is a little too creamy oak, needs air.
Aired out palate has warm pear/pineapple and a mineral component I cannot quite pin yet, oak is still in the way.
48hr Update: Flinty/Oak bat to the palate, check ☑, has not mellowed at all tonight.

Beautiful LONG finish on this creamy Chardonnay. Finished it off with an all Bruschetta dinner.

Apr 19th, 2017This was so incredible. Burnt popcorn and tobacco. Rubber tire like Alsace. Such an interesting and unmistakably distinct flavor profile. Can't wait to check this out in a few years.

Sep 14th, 2016Crazy interesting, but not ready to drink yet. Fresh popped popcorn, green apple, wet stone, flint. Super soft acidity and toasty finish.

Jul 15th, 2016The American oak really comes through aromatically. More than I would like it to. Lemon curd, coconut, and some tropical fruits with lime. Finish is creamy and slightly woody. For the style it was fine, but from an iconic winemaker like this I think I expected better oak integration and more finesse
