Popped too young, but I just wanted to open it, dammit. Classic fairly old-school Zin nose, with brambly blackberry, a bit of American oak, and stony gravel. Fairly tight in the mouth. I love the focused fruit, which is not jammy in the least. It’s very dry (which is almost jarring these days of jammy Zins with residual sugar), and it’s got some youthfully drying tannins. Needs, and will be better in, at least 2-3 years, but enjoyable now.

Jun 19th, 2022Still quite primary both on the nose and the plate with ripe blackberry and stewed plum leading the charge. Deeply concentrated but in no way overly jammy. There are nuances of peppery spicy and earthy elements that prevent it from one dimensional. Delicious but I would hold for another 5 years at least if I have the patience.

Oct 14th, 2023Frankly - one of the worst bottles of wine I have tasted in a long long time. No nose, nothing on the palate and water finishes better than this stuff. Cancelling my Ridge memberships tonight!
